Default optimization plug-in for Excel 2003.

I am looking for an optimization software (Plug-in) for Excel-2003 to solve
problems with multiple variable.
I tried one such trial version from Solver.com unsuccessfully.
Any other suggestion.

I'm curious. What kind of "multiple variable" problem are you trying to
solve? Did you try Excel's version of Solver first? What kind of trial
version from www.solver.com did you try? In what way was the trial version
unsuccessful?

In addition to www.solver.com and www.lindo.com mentioned by Tushar Mehta,
www.palisade.com has an Excel optimization add-in called Evolver.
