Default XIRR function not defined?

For some reason the XIRR function on the version of Excel 2003 on my new
computer is not working. When I enter it the "#NAME?" response comes up, and
when I go into the function using "fx" it says that it is "undefined." What
is going on here and how can I fix this?

Thanks,
Alex

This function is part of the analysis toolpak addin.

You have to install it (if it's not installed) and turn it on.

If you look under Tools|Addins, do you see Analysis Toolpak in the list? If you
do, just check it.

If you don't see it there, close excel and use your distribution CD to install
that addin.
