Default Using dates in formulas

I have a column of dates. I need to write a formula that will check the date
and the result will be the correct quarter. How do I write the formula?

6/25/05 Q2
1/15/05 Q1
12/4/05 Q4
9/30/05 Q3
3/25/05 Q1

Thanks in advance,
Cheryl

=INT((MONTH(A1)-1)/3)+1

and format as:

Format/Cells/Number Custom Type: \Q0

or, if you don't mind the result being TEXT, you could use:

=TEXT(INT((MONTH(A1)-1)/3)+1,"\Q0")
