Default how do i use spreadsheets wider than 256 columns?

I'm lookiing for an add in or plugin that will enable me to use .csv files
created by a sql database query of up to 512 variables. I'd also like to be
able to increase the number of rows beyond the current limit.

Fraid not. Excel is well and truly fixed at 256 columns and 65536 rows.
Quattro Pro I believe has many more columns and rows. You might try that.
