Default sheet protection

i am trying to protect a sheet in an excel 2000 workbook so i go to tools -
protection - sheet protection- and type in the password but then when i go to
the sheet i can make changes to the cells so in reality the sheet is not
protected
please help!

I think you need to lock the cells. Go to format cells and lock them, then
they can't be altered. (I think!)
