Default PASTE DOWN FUNCTIONS

I have a problem with functions for a worksheet that imports SQL data thru a
query. (this may be a familure question from the 23rd of May, aprt of it was
answered). When it updates, it deletes some lines that have 'cleared' and
adds new lines. There are functions that add info that do some math. As these
rows get added and deleted, it seams to be eating up the pasted functions.
That is, when you paste functions for a thousand rows, you may delete 50 rows
a day and add 50 rows. soon the 50 new rows a day leave 950 pasted, the next
day 900 rows, etc. How can I enforce those 1000 rows' functions form getting
'eaten' by this effect. I'm not sure which setting controls this. thanks
ahead of time
