Default Maintaining numerical data with <'s in pivot tables

I am converting lab data into a Pivot Table, and the data has a less than
sign(<) in front of the numerical data. Once the Pivot table is created the
numerical data shows up as a 0. I have tried all of the options and still
get 0.
