Default Repeat characters to cell width

Greetings and TIA for your time,
I vaguely remember with Lotus 123 that it was possible to repeat characters
to the cell width without specfying the cell width. For example, if I
remember right, "/-" would produce 1 cell width of hyphens: -----------------
Is there an equivalent for Excel?

Format|cells|alignment tab
Horizontal dropdown: Choose Fill.
