HOW TO DO ENABLE ENABLE THE QUERY PARAMETER BUTTON?

this is one of those quarks about MSQ that doesn't make sense. the parameter
button seems to be for editing criteria not establishing criteria. in order
to edit , you must first HAVE criteria. you have to set that up in the MSQ
dialog.
assuming you have 2003, on the menu bar
datainport external dataedit query
click the next button 3 time until the last dialog.
select option button view or edit query in Microsoft query then click finish.
the MSQ dialog will pop up. on the menu bar, click criteriaadd criteria.
enter your cirter.
on the menu barfilereturn data to excel
you now have critera and the parameter button will be enabled.
