Default AVERAGEIF in pivot tables

How do I use the AVERAGEIF formula in a pivot table? I know how to use Pivot
Table Tools Formuals Calculated Fields. However, when I try to enter the
formula into the formula cell, I get an error message. Specifically, I'm
trying to do an AVERAGEIF of a column called Profits IF the value in profits
is =0 and then <0

Hi yowzers,
not all Excel functions are available in pivot tables. In this cases
the use of a helper column may help.
HTH cheers Michael
