I have a workbook with 12 worksheets that use the subtotal function to sum up
various sales into a total, operating expenses into a total, personnel expenses, etc. Different people adjust the input data that makes up the subtotals, but the equations in the subtotal lines do not change. I've had problems with people writing over the equations in the subtotal lines instead of the detail above. I tried just protecting the cells in the subtotal line and unprotecting the range where people input data, and then I protected the worksheet using the Tools Menu. But then when I went to expand out the detail to the next level, it wouldn't let me because of the protection. Is there any way to protect the cells in the subtotal line while still being able to toggle back and forth between displaying and hiding the detail rows for each subtotal? I am using Excel 2003 Thanks |
