Default WHY WAS THE CONVERT FUNCTION DROPPED IN EXCEL 2003???

When I updated to 2003 three some of my spreadsheets not longer worked
because the CONVERT function is no longer available. Does anybody know why
it was removed??

It is not removed, it has always been an add-in, so to install it, keep the
2003 office/excel cd handy, toolsadd-in, check ATP (Analysis ToolPak) and
follow the instructions

Hi Dan,

It is a custom function that is supplied via an add-in.

As a general rule, I would suggest that you avoid using functions from
add-ins since, as you have discovered, they only work if the user has
that particular add-in available. If you need to use a custom
function, you could include it with the workbook, but that then means
the user gets a 'macro' warning when opening the workbook (if they
have their settings to warn).

IMHO is it just better to avoid using UDFs and functions from add-ins
if at all possible.

Not always easy I grant you!

Alan.
