Default Auto Fill

I have a fairly large spread sheet to fill in certian information on. Is
there a way in Excel 2003 for me to conditionally identify one cell and if
that condidtion is met, have another cell filled in with certian information?
Example: If a cell in Column A contains "Monday" then the cell in the same
Row in Column D would autofill with the number 3...??

Default Auto Fill

In D1 enter =IF(A1="Monday",3,"not Monday")

But I'm sure there is more to this than you have described.
