Default percentage in brackets

I have input a formula that calculated the percentage increase (decrease)
from a figure in a particular year. If I format the cell as percentage, the
negative (decrease) percentage has a minus sign. I would like the percentage
to show up in brackets. Is there any way to input the formula yet still have
the decrease show up in brackets? (I'm using Excel 2002)

Default percentage in brackets

Format Custom as
0%;(0%)
or of course
0.00%;(0.00%)

FormatCellsNumber tabselect 'Number' and select the format from the list
