I am working in excel 2003 and typing words into a cell. It can get rather
long (up to 250 words or more) and when I hit enter, some of the data towards the end drop off and doesn't wrap. I did a test, setting it up in another workbook and set the column to 255 characters long and then copied the data down over and over again and all shows up, so it is not a matter of there not being enough room in the cell, but it just not wrapping. So for instance if I have a 1), 2), 3) 4) and 5) items in my cell, it will take 1 to 3 perfectly fine, wrapping text etc and then 4 and 5 will lob off my data and only show data to the column width of the cell (which is maybe 20). Why does it change suddenly and what can I do about it if anything? -- Kathy |

A cell can hold 32767 characters but will show or print only 1024 of these
characters in a cell. If you add a linefeed.....Alt + Enter.........every 100 or so characters you can increase this limit considerably. 1024 characters is the display limit by default..........you can enter 32767
characters in a cell but only 1024 will display or print. There's no way to increase that limit other than to add the linefeeds (Alt + ENTER) every 100 characters or so... -- "Actually, I *am* a rocket scientist." -- JB (www.MadRocketScientist.com) Your feedback is appreciated, click YES if this post helped you.
