DATEDIF function is a simple function, it returns #VALUE when either start_date is greater than end_date or the interval is not correct. You can visit the following link if you want to learn more about the function.

I think you'll find that start after finish gives #NUM!, not #VALUE!

Your reference can cause confusion, as it is headed:
"Excel DATEDIFF Function",
but DATEDIFF with the double F is the VBA function, not the worksheet
function.
