I'm looking for an Excel formula that will compare cells in two columns and
shade one or both cells if they are not equal. Example: if A1=B1,(stet-no change happens),format with red font or blue shading or.... |

Look at conditional Formatting in help, for instance if you compare text you
select the cell you want to have a red font, assume you compare A1 with B1. I am also assuming you are using Excel 2003 or earlier select A1, do formatconditional formatting, select cell value equal to B1, click the format button in the same dialogue box and select red font, click OK twice. -- Regards, Peo Sjoblom "Newsgal" wrote in message ... Hi, Peo,
I followed your instructions, but for some reason it doesn't work in all cells in column. For example: If I want it formatted to shade the cells if the name John is in A1 and the name Mary is in B1, it works for A1 and B1, but when I select the entire column it isn't consistently shading the cells that don't match. Any thoughts on how to apply to an entire column?
