Default multi functions

Hi guys,
kinda stuck on a problem. I am trying to add a validation to an column. At
the moment I have staff, hourly rate, job etc i have a staff valdiation in
the fact that they can only be staff from a list. What I would like to do is
have it so say a member of staff is entered in staff, you then only have ther
hourly rates appear as a drop down in rate. btw each member of staff has
many rates.
Cheers
