Default vlookup

If book2 is array Sheet2!A1:A100 try the below formula ..
Lookup value in cell A1 is from book no 1 .

=VLOOKUP("*" & LEFT(A1 & "-",FIND("-",A1)-1) & "*",Sheet2!A1:A100,1,0)

If this post helps click Yes

Hi,

You can use a wildcard

=VLOOKUP("*"&A2&"*",[Book2]Sheet1!$A$1:$B$20,2,FALSE)

so if A2 contains 321127
it will find 321127-00 in book 2.
