Default Freeze Panes Button Greyed Out

In Excel 2007, the Freeze Panes button (under View/Window) is greyed out,
even after I've selected a row. This only happens for new worksheets.
Worksheets created in Excel 97 on another machine and dowloaded to mine do
not have this problem, What's going on?

Default Freeze Panes Button Greyed Out

Freeze Panes will not work if mutiple sheets are selected. Try exiting Group
mode.

If this helps, please click the Yes button.
