what is the difference between Now() and Today()

Both seem to change when you reopen the spreadsheet. I'd like the date I
create the worksheet to be saved and not updated everytime I reopen it. Any
ideas?

Answer: what is the difference between Now() and Today()

Difference between Now() and Today() functions in Excel

The Today() function returns only the current date, without the time.

The Now() function returns both the current date and time.

Workaround to insert current date as a static value

Instead of using the Now() or Today() function, you can use the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + ;" to insert the current date in a cell.

Here are the steps to insert the current date using the keyboard shortcut:
  1. Select the cell where you want to insert the date.
  2. Press "Ctrl + ;" on your keyboard.
  3. The current date will be inserted in the selected cell as a static value.

what is the difference between Now() and Today()

Now() includes the time as well as the date.

You would need to remove the formula to do that, and replace with the value.

Try Ctrl-; (semi-colon) in the cell.

Hi Marie,

As the functions say today() =date, now() is timestamp including time on
date.
