Default How can I select the arrows in my spreadsheet?

I have a spreadsheet from a client that contains arrows that I can neither
select nor delete. When I put the cursor on them, it changes, as if to allow
selection of the item, but no such luck. I did try the "zoom" function to
see if I was selecting them and just unable to see the size handles appear.
Also not the case. Suggestions?
