Default formula that strips the first letter of the first name in a cell

I dont know if this can be done but how can I do this....
let's say
in
cell A1 I have the value "John"
cell B1 I have the value "Smith"

Can I write a formula to create this in cell C1 "JSmith"
I guess it would be something like this = ????? + B1
