Default VLookup - find new items

I have a regular spreadsheet with large number of data lines. I would like
to identify new items that appear on the spreadsheet each time it is run but
I have not got a clue how to do this. I've looked on the help guide and in
my Excel bible but I'm no closer to figuring this out. Any assistance
gratefully received.
