Default Build in Code

Is there any place to view the code behind the built in functions in Excel? I
am working on some of my own variations on existing functions and I find that
if I have existing code, it is much easier to build on instead of trying to
figure everything out from scratch.

No, that is MS's trade secrets. You will have to look on the web for
specific algorithms.
