Default Currently using '97 version.... Should I buy Office 2007 or 2003??

Been using 97 for a LOOONG time and it works quirky under 64 bit Vista
but should I plop down $90.00 and buy Office Student and Home edtion
2007?

What are some of the major differences or IMPROVEMENTS?

In other words, please 'talk me into it'

Well, how about this:

Excel 97 is 4 versions old...

$90 doesn't sound too bad.

The Microsoft website identifies the difference between versions. Most
people would say if you can afford a 64-bit Vista machine, you can afford
Office 2007. Whether the additional features have any value, only you can
determine.

Fred.

Also of note, if you haven't seen or used Excel 2007 be prepared for a step
learning curve!

Emphatically not!

Take a step up to Excel 2003 first, it will be a nice experience compared to
97, without the learning curve of 2007, without the plain daft design
decisions of 2007, and without the bugs of 2007.

If you want to upgrade to the more visual (read less useful) style of Excel,
wait for Office 2010 and hopefully some of the bigger problems will be
resolved.

If you've been getting by in XL97 without feeling pinched by its limitations,
then Bob is probably right. If you'd like over a million rows and 16
thousand columns, a few more powerful functions, and the ability to utilize
multiple cores, AND you're willing to learn a different user interface...then
go to 2007

Duke,

I think you missed my point about the problems with 2007. If he does need
those extras (of which multiple cores is the only one of any value IMO),
then he should wait for 2010, it will undoubtedly be better than the rushed
to market 2007.
