Default VLOOKUP

I am trying to understand how to use this function.
I entered my values in the "Function Arguments" box and at the bottom
my "Formula Result" is correct. But when I click "OK" I see my formula
appear in the cell, not my result.

I must be missing one small step?

Default VLOOKUP

Format the cell as General (or anything but Text).
Then select the cell and hit F2, then enter. Excel will see that you've entered
a formula.

Debra Dalgleish has lots of notes:
http://www.contextures.com/xlFunctions02.html (for =vlookup())
