Default Change Alignment Defaults

Hello,
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to change the alignment and text wrap
defaults within Excel?
Thank you,
Victoria

Default Change Alignment Defaults

Set up a workbook with all the cells as you'd like regarding alignment &
text wrap, then save as a template named book.xlt (or book.xltx in 2007),
and save in the XLStart directory (usually at C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\OFFICE11\xlstart)
You can also delete it / rename it if you no longer want it. All new
workbooks will be a copy of this one.

I was hoping there was a way other than using a template.
I'm assuming there isn't.

Thanks for the reply,
Victoria

Default Change Alignment Defaults

Hi,

1. If you want it for all future workbooks then Bob's solution is best.
Note you never need to manually open the template because it will be the
default workbook that opens when you start Excel and it will open anytime you
click the New button.

2. If you want the changes for a specific workbook - select all the sheet
tabs, click the top left corner of any one, and set the alignment and wrap
text options. The deselect and ungroup.

3. If you want it for a single sheet - Click the top left corner of the
spreadsheet to select the entire worksheet, as above, and then set the
options. This will apply to all the cells on the selected sheet.

4. You could make a regular template - meaning that it is not stored in the
XLStart folder, and open that whenever you wanted these features. (this
sounds like just what you don't want).

5. There are no built in Excel settings for setting these two features as
the defaults.

Shane,

It sounds like the template IS my best option.
Thanks alot for detailing my options for me. I didn't know that I could
make changes to multiple tabs at once. That is going to come in handy also.

Best regards,
Victoria
