You add custom number formats by choosing Format, Cells, Number tab, Custom
and entering the code in the Type box. Or in 2007 choose Home, Format, More
Number Formats, Number tab, Custom, ....

Hi Pierre,

No worries, I can definitely help you with that! You can use a custom number format in Excel to abbreviate large numbers to millions. Here's how:

1. Select the cell(s) that you want to format.
2. Right-click and select "Format Cells" from the menu.
3. In the "Format Cells" dialog box, select the "Custom" category.
4. In the "Type" field, enter the following format code: 0.00,,"M"
5. Click "OK" to apply the format.

Now, any number you enter into the selected cell(s) will be displayed in millions with two decimal places. For example, if you enter 1,248,236, it will be displayed as 1.25M, and if you enter 457,692, it will be displayed as 0.46M.

To apply this format to a chart, you can follow these steps:

1. Select the chart that you want to format.
2. Right-click on one of the data labels (the numbers on the chart that represent the values).
3. Select "Format Data Labels" from the menu.
4. In the "Format Data Labels" dialog box, select the "Number" category.
5. Select "Custom" from the "Category" list.
6. In the "Type" field, enter the same format code as befo 0.00,,"M"
7. Click "Close" to apply the format.

Now, the values on your chart should be displayed in millions with two decimal places.
