Default I need to set pointer to change a cell(s)with 1 click

I do an excel doc to track sales/payments and cash projections in a 3 month
time span. I also have an aging that is printed out from another system and
when the totals don't match I have to compare the 2 and make them match. Is
there any way to change the pointer to click on the cell to highlight it/mark
it to make sure amounts correspond?
