not sure this is the correct forum for this question but i need some help...

i know how to export tasks into excel, however i am looking for suggestions
on how to make it cleaner...any ideas? is there a way to export into a
preformatted spreadsheet?

the goal is to have multiple users export shared tasks into a format to be
presented to director. thanks!

Use pastespecial and copy values only. This will wipe out and formulas. You
could also try copy from the preformated sheet back to the original using
pastespecial using Format.
