I have been working on a large sheet and copying/creating new column of
formulas,,and now it take forever for the copying to be completed, where as before this same task was faster. In the lower left corner of excel it say 'copying comments' while it working to copy the cells. Not sure why it says that. In the past when I had speed copying I don't think it did that. How can I speed up copying of many column like it did in the past? Thank you. -- John 3:16-19 |

1) So when it says in the lower left corner of excel 'copying comments' , it
is not really just copying the cell comments only and does not relate to copying the cell formulas? 2) There are a very small amount of cells that have comments and maybe it is taking so long is because excel is hunting for comment cell? Never had the slowness or 'copying comments' notifcation before. 3)Not all my cells have comments. How can I select all my numerous cell and ask excel to delete the cells that have comments? I don't have time to hunt for them. -- John 3:16-19 "Spiky" wrote: On Dec 22, 11:56 pm, yogart . wrote: I have been working on a large sheet and copying/creating new column of formulas,,and now it take forever for the copying to be completed, where as before this same task was faster. while it working to copy the cells. 1) When copying 500 formulas cells there may only be a few of them that have
(right click added) comments in, so this takes extra time to hunt for these few comments and then copies them, and then copies the formulas in the cells? Is that really thething slowing it down? 2)When excel give the small box saying 'copying comments', it also gives a button to excape. If I would press the escape, would that also stop the copying of the formulas in the cells? -- John 3:16-19 "Spiky" wrote: On Dec 22, 11:56 pm, yogart . wrote: I have been working on a large sheet and copying/creating new column of formulas,,and now it take forever for the copying to be completed, where as before this same task was faster. 1) So when it says in the lower left corner of excel *'copying comments' , it

If you hit Escape, you should see the formulas already pasted. 2) There are a very small amount of cells that have comments and maybe it is taking so long is because excel is hunting for comment cell? *Never had the slowness or 'copying comments' notifcation before. I'm guessing your spreadsheet has gotten big enough that it is now an issue. 3)Not all my cells have comments. *How can I select all my numerous cell and ask excel to delete the cells that have comments? *I don't have time to hunt for them. Select all the cells where you want to delete comments. Probably just by selecting entire columns, I would guess. Right-Click and select Delete Comments in the menu. It will delete all of them in the selected cells. |

Is that really thething slowing it down? * See my other post about memory. However, there may be some other options to just avoid the issue altogether. For instance, you can choose Paste Formulas instead of a standard Paste. This will not copy the comments. You can use Fill commands either with the mouse (click on the lower right corner of a cell and drag) or in the Edit menu. This will not copy comments, either. |
