Default How do i keep my formatting when linking from one sheet to another

I have a QA spreadsheet where one tab contains the requirements and another
tab has test cases based on those requirements, with cells in them linked
i.e. '=Requirements!R6'. Shockingly the requirements have changed since the
start of the project, but when i go to the cell to mark some of the sentences
in red, the formatting does not carry through to the test cases tab. I've
tried using different colors, strikethroughs etc. but none of the formatting
is carried through. I want to keep the original requirements so that i can
show the scope creep, but without the formatting to distinguish the current
and obsolete requirements within the cell it doesn't help me.

Anyone?
