Default Excel data table from Adobe - formatting

Hey all. I have ~ 3500 lines of data converted from Adobe into an Excel
worksheet. I need the formatting changed from general to accounting.
However, just highlighting and changing the 'format cells' does not seem to
work. I've also tried the old F9 tricks and they do not work either. Is
there a way to highlight all 3500 lines x 8 columns and get these changed?

I hope you get an answer on this one, might same me some time.
Right now, I copy my data to notepad, format cells and copy back to
spreadsheet.

Don - I found the answer myself - works slick. In a cell nearby your data,
enter the number 1. Right click on the cell and choose copy. Then highlight
all of your data, right click on the highlighted range and choose paste
special. On the paste special menu choose multiply under the operation
section and then click on OK. Then go back and delete your original "1"
entry.

If you use an empty cell and "Add" instead of multiply, you don't have to go
back and delete the "1" entry.

Just make sure you have formatted all to General before the operation.

Or just select the column range containing the text-numbers and run
the menu command Data Text to Columns, and immediately click on the
Finish button in the Convert Text to Columns Wizard.

I'm not sure where this menu option is, is it possible it is not part of
default menus.
I know there are some options I can't access or install due to security
issues with the IdioT department.

Are you saying that you don't have a "Data" menu, or that you do have a
"Data" menu, but no "Text to Columns" on that menu? Which version of Excel
are you using?

Are you sure that you're looking at the full menu? Is there a double
down-arrow at the foot of the menu? [Or otherwise Tools/ Customise/ Options
....]
