Default #ref! in calculations off of a getpivot data sum

I have a formula that looks for CTS in a pivot table
Example: FMM CTS 500 and FSM CTS 200
but occasionally FMM CTS is 0 and FSM CTS is 200
since this is on a pivot table when FMM is 0 there isn't a "placeholder" on
the pivot for that product because it is 0. so the formula is returning a
#ref! because it can't find the FMM CTS although it is supposed to add FMM
and FSM and get 200.
Any ideas on how to get around this?
thanks in advance.
