Default Sheet protection "protecting" too much!

I have protected a worksheet but have allowed others to make needed entries
in certain areas. One such area is where they have to put an "X" in the cell
which they are allowed to do. However, they also need the ability to put a
comment in the cell which they are not allowed to do. What do I need to do
to get themm access to the "insert comment" option?

Thank you!

When you protect the sheet, you can check the box for "Edit Objects". This
will enable the insert comment option when right-clicking a cell.
Unfortunatetly, this will also allow them to insert comments in other
(locked) cells, as well as give them the ability to edit other objects on
the sheet (I think?).

Thanks, Paul. That did the trick. You were right about them being able to
insert comments in other otherwise locked cells, but since they would have no
need to do so I am hoping that won't be a problem. Thanks again!

When you protect the sheet uncheck the "allow users to select locked cells"

If you can't select, you can't insert a comment.

Thanks for clearing that up.
