Hi Julie Thanks for this, it does show as you said so I will now try to correct my spread sheet hope this sorts it now it is doing my head in. all because drivers have new regulations coming in what about us office lot that sit at home on a night until the early hours doing stuff like this. Helen JulieD Wrote: Hi Helen not surprising that you're frustrated :) dates & times get me like that too okay assuming your dates are in ........A................B...................C 1...08:00..........17:00...........=B1-C1 should give you the correct answer - to check if excel is recognising your input correctly, format all three cells to general (do on a copy of the workbook) and you should see: ...........................A...................... .......B.........................C 1.....0.333333333333333.....0.708333333333333....0 .375 how does this compare with what you have? Cheers JulieD "Helen Black" wrote in message ...- I am trying to do a time spread sheet, I am using hh:mm which works ok until I input a time that comes to a total of 9 hours when the total time reaches 9 hours it gives me 00:00 if I put eg 08:00 to 15:00 = 07:00 this is correct but if I put 08:00 to 17:00 should = 09:00 but gives me 00:00 I cannot work out what I am doing wrong could some one help. Please do in simple terms as I am self taught on excel and have worked out alsorts but if you get too technical I get lost. Thanks Frustrated Helen -- Helen Black- -- Helen Black |
