Default Text and the #VALUE error

Is there a way that you can use text in a cell that is part of a formula
such that the formula returns 0 instead of a "#VALUE" error?

I would like to be able to insert memos for extraordinary events which would
be displayed with the rest of the sheet.

Thanks

Harry

What formula are you using now? Some functions like average and sum (in
simple form) will ignore cells that contain text, but apparently your
formula is returning #VALUE when you enter text.
