Default Auto update workbooks link

I get error message
'Unable to read file'

after I click OK when Excel prompt me to auto update the links
between two workbooks.
How to solve this?
I want the automatic update everytime I open my workbook.
Please help.

Well, what is the external data source?

I'm guessing that your links are to some file on a network, and
you're not connected to the network, or else they're to a file that
no longer exists.
