Default how do I end a worksheet columnwise.

I have a 15 column worksheet that I want to be able to quick copy the rows by
selecting the row number and copying the data. Even though I hide the other
240 some columns, it still copy's the entire row. The information I copy
needs to be pasted into another worksheet and has formula's in columns 16-20.
If other spreadsheet is unprotected, it over writes these formulas, if
columns 16-20 are protected I get a paste error.
