Default conditional formatting

I want to apply conditional formatting to cell B4 or the range of cells as
yellow highlighted when the value of cell A1="Y"

I have tried formula is =if(A1="Y",) formatting yellow highlighted, but its
not working. Please help.

=$A$1="Y"
