Default looking for a function

Is there a function (or an addin with this function) that just defines wethera character is present in a string or not ?
("Find" gives an error-string if the character is not present).
Thanks,
Gilbert

=isnumber(find(...))
will return true/false if the string is found.

Hi Gilbert,

What do you want returned if a string is not present?

Try something like

=IF(ISERROR(FIND("a",A1)),"NotFound",FIND("a",A1))

You can simply test for the error:

For example:

=if(iserr(find(...),"Not Prsent","Present")

--ron

Sorry, typo
Missing set of quotes
=IF(ISNUMBER(FIND(your find formula)),"do 1","do 2")

Replace Do 1 and Do 2 with whatever you want depending on the outcome of the test.
