Default Cannot update <field name; field not updatable. (Error 3113)

I understand Microsoft lost a legal battle and you can no longer update Excel
worksheets from Access. This was a feature I used multiple times daily until
I received an update killing the functionality. Does anybody have a decent
solution? I still have Office 2000 wonder if reinstalling that will help. I
have reviewed all of the workarounds Microsoft offers and they all suck.
Wonder if Lotus 123 is still out there?
