Default SQL.Request works on one machine but not another

I have a situation where one person can use an Excel
spreadsheet that queries a SQL database and returns the expected information
but another person gets an error when trying to use the same spreadsheet.

Both machines have a SQL System DSN that is functional. Both machines have
Office XP (2002) with SP3.

The working machine shows "=SQL.Request........." in the cell with the query.
The non-functional machine shows "='C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office.........XLODBC.XLA...." We downloaded the Excel ODBC add-in, which
is the same location the path in the spreadsheet is
returning.

Is there something else to configure to get the add-in functional?
