Excel 2003
I have a problem with people thinking they are copying cells in a column when they are really incrementing the value of the first cell (and not paying attention). Is there a way to protect the column and allow them to copy but not change the cells? Thanks, Carole O |

Yes, go to the cell right click and select format cells from the pop-up menu.
Then go the very last right tab and place a check mark in locked and hidden check boxes, click OK. Then go back to the main sheet and select protection from the "Tools" menu, there, select "Protect Worksheet". Add a password of your choice and that should do it. However, since this is still Excel, if the user(s) copies and pastes across many columns or rows, depending on what you are trying to accomplish, they may still be able to blow out your formulas, be careful to instruct them of the dangers of doing that! Hope this helps! Do you know of a way to protect the cell of a worksheet but allow user to
input data? We need to find a way to allow user to input their own data but not erase the formulas. Thanks "Jay" wrote: Yes, go to the cell right click and select format cells from the pop-up menu. If you allow users to input their own data in a cell, the formula will be wiped anyway. Input or formula, not both. Copy the cell, right click on the cell where you want to paste it, select
'Paste Special', check 'Values', OK. "carrol" wrote in message ... can any one help me on this problem. I would like to copy only the answer of a function formulated in the cell, how can i do that?? |

Does this work the same way in 07? I have tried it several times. However,
it will not allow me to copy and insert a row without entering the password. "Jay" wrote: Yes, go to the cell right click and select format cells from the pop-up menu.
