Default fill color not working in excel 2007

I just put office 2007 on my new laptop for work. I opened an old excel file
created with excel 2003 and noticed my fill colors weren't in the cells I had
put them in. I tried to add fill color. Nothing. I even tried to create a
new worksheet and entered info in a cell, tried fill color -- no dice. Is
there something I'm not doing correctly or is there a glitch in excel 2007?

To be frank, there's a couple of glitches in 2007, but I'm not sure if that's
one of them or not. If you create a new workbook in 2007, can you fill cells
with colors in it?

Do you get any error/alert messages when you try to fill the cell, or does
it just quietly not do it?

I just double checked in Excel 2007 on one machine here and opened a 2003
created (saved in 97-2003 format) file and cell fill color worked without a
hitch for me.

I'm thinking that perhaps in opening the file that 2007 may somehow think
that the worksheet is protected from certain format changes, cell color being
one it's tripped over. You might check to make sure that the sheet (or
entire workbook) is not protected against such changes.

In Windows XP, click on Start | Control Panel | Accessibility Options |
Display tab | uncheck the "Use high contrast" box | OK.

Good thought - completely forgot about that possibility.
