Default cell shading

the formula to shade every other cell in a spreadsheet doesn't work for me.
i select the worksheet and type in the following formula, but nothing
happens. any suggestions?
=MOD(ROW(),2)=0

Default cell shading

The formula has to go into the Formula Is: dialog in FormatConditional
Formatting.

Sounds like you just entered it in a cell.
