How can you modify the background color of a cell by using formul.
I want to find a function within excel which allows you to detect colors. I
want to then be able to attach a condition to the values based on the color of a cell. |

You could look at Conditional Formatting ...
In addition, Chip Pearson has some functions related to colours he http://www.cpearson.com/excel/colors.htm Perhaps you can find something that allows you to do what you are looking for.
