Default Relative Cell References When Linking

I have a very large master spreadsheet with links to data in 5 other
spreadsheets. How can I avoid linking the cells one by one (from the master
to each of the 5), as I have noticed that copying a link formula does not
automatically update the cell reference? I am looking to save some time and
manual labor!

INDIRECT will help.

Default Relative Cell References When Linking

I'm not sure I understand the syntax. Here's the link from the master sheet:

'D:\data\PMO - Global Application Outsourcing\Initiative Tracking by
Unit\[PMR Template-NA.xls]NA'!$L$23

How do I use the INDIRECT function here so that $L$23 becomes $M$23, etc.
when I copy?

Thanks much!
