How can I determine the color of cell shading using a function or expression?

Default Cell Shading

Excel has no worksheet function that will do this.

How did the cell get its shading?

Manually or by Condtional Formatting?

See Chip Pearson's site for user defind functions to cover the above

http://www.cpearson.com/excel/colors.htm.

Note the caveat about Conditional formatting and the link to another page.
